drizzle and eve
January 5, 2010
the view from my balcony in cumbres de curumo, one of the highest places in caracas. you can see the whole city, the glimmering lights from the barrio, the evening blinding sunset, airplanes making their circles around the hills, traffic upon las mercedes and altamira, celebratory fireworks and etcetera. yet one day, light drizzle brought not only our urge to put on socks and our finest pashminas, but also an inability to see. we lost our vision within the hazy rainclouds, the high mountains of the avila can no longer be reached. all we saw was rain, wet, dreary rain, and a thickening mist that chilled down our spines.
