some thoughts after finishing Eclipse and continuing to Breaking Dawn;
(I know it’s late)

1. I truly believe that Stephenie Meyer’s writing techniques cannot be compared to those of Arundhati Roy, Emily Bronthe, etc. Her work plays with the underlining theme of gothicism, mixing it with references to natural elements which gives it a romantic touch. Although the sentences she wrote might not be stringed together in some sort of  sonata of a melodic harmony of words; it is easy to read, easy to understand, and easy to grasp.

2.  I once believed that Edward Cullen was overrated. I had once took a liking to the character of Jacob Black, but coming to the end of book 3, he began to irritate me.  Although, I still would think a Jacob Black would be more of my type than Mr. Heart of Stone (atleast, physically because I wouldn’t want to freeze to death, haha)

3.  If I were Isabella Swan, would I really choose to be a vampire? Come to think of it, she really had no choice huh? If she were to stay human, the Volturi would get to her anyway.. but her decision was made based on love. I think I’d stick to being human, but I really wouldn’t know, I’ve never fallen in love with a vampire before.

4. If I were Bella, wouldn’t you be a tad freaked out? I mean you have this pale dude watching you while you sleep.. isn’t that kind of freaky?

5. Lastly, I thank Stephenie Meyer (and the Internet) for giving me something to do during office-hours. God knows what I might be doing if I don’t have the Twilight series to read (in pdf form because I’m a lazy cheapass who didn’t want to pay another rp.160.000 for each book) when I’m in the office.

1. Found out that doing nothing-ness is more tiring than doing something-ness

2. Had a fantastical girl’s night out at Poste & Embassy! It was fun meeting the girls, I think it’s been a while that a large number of my girl-friends got together without any testosterone present :P

3. Pizza sure is goood. especially stuff crust pizzas! After a lazy sunday swim with your loved ones

i’ve decided to keep this blog more to my personal stories and thoughts, and for more trivial things i created another blog, mostly for fashion and lifestyle-related issues. you can check it out at:
http://abcdefghijkemi.blogspot.com/

but that doesn’t mean everyone isn’t invited to read this blog as well, because it still is in the public blogosphere anyway, hahaha.

on another hand, i’ve been rummaging around my closet here in jakarta and i found a few gems,  i’m thinking of doing a garagesale some time soon, so watch this space! but for http://abcdefgaragesale.blogspot.com, i’m on hiatus until i get back to malaysia.

toodles~!

a photographed silently screamed for my attention.
not one,
but
two
three
it’s tempting me and driving me insane
like a howling werewolf on a full moon,
a thirsty vampire and sweet, sweet blood
i need it
and it needs me
it’s pure existence is there for my consumption
it lives off my hunger, my pain,
my temptation
i need it
i need it
i need it
i need to fight temptation
i’ve become an animal

The times we had
Oh, when the wind would blow with rain and
snow
Were not all bad
We put our feet just where they had, had to go
Never to go

The shattered soul
Following close but nearly twice as slow
In my good times
There were always golden rocks to throw
at those who admit defeat too late
Those were our times, those were our times

And I will love to see that day
That day is mine

When she will marry me outside with the
willow trees
And play the songs we made
They made me so
And I would love to see that day
Her day was mine

The Whitest Boy Alive

dsc00788

The foursome from Berlin, Germany played an amazing little gig last night at Bengkel Jakarta. Erlend Oye was being his little animated self, dressed in slacks, a buttoned shirt, a cardigan plus his trademark oversized glasses. At first glance he resembled a typical corporate office boy, but once he picked up his guitar and mic he hypnotized the audience with the floating beats of minimalist dream pop. With bassist Marcin Oz, drummer Sebastian Maschat and Daniel Nentwig on Rhodes piano/Crumar, the quartet performed several old songs, several current songs and several cover songs off their albums Dreams (2006), as well as Michael Mind’s urban club hit ‘Show Me Love’ and Stardust’s ‘Music Sounds Better With You’. As the gig ended, the crowd went into a frenzy of We want more’s, all desperately hoping that The Whitest Boy Alive would electrify the crowd with more upbeat tunes, preparing them for the greatly expected performance of Steve Aoki.

must hear: The Whitest Boy Alive – 24k

Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki is a downright ‘hipster entrepreneur” (as nicknamed by the NY Times), doing everything from being a record producer to being the grande host to much Hollywood A-list parties. He seems like a pretty nice lad, actually, interacting with the crowd and possibly never rejecting a photo offer from fans. Yet his performance last night was just out of place. I blame it on the steel barricade distance between him and the crowd, in a large concert venue area. His attempts of interaction came from jumping up and down, running around the stage and drinking from a bottle of water. But what do you expect? Security will probably be on his ass if he jumped into the crowd just as Erlend Oye did previously last night.
In terms of music selection, I admit I don’t know much of his discography. But I’m one moody music enthusiast, and if the song selection does not make me enthusiastic, it’s probably crap. And the verdict? I ended up sitting down half of the time of Aoki’s set.

as some of you know, FACEHUNTER was in jakarta and he even dropped by during TWBA/Steve Aoki, I believe I saw him a couple of times in the venue but I wasn’t so sure it was him, and it would be embarrassing to go up to some random lad and be like “HEY ARE YOU FACEHUNTER” and he’d be like “WHAT? I DONT HUNT FACES” or smth like that. but he took some shots of people around jakarta and kudos to those who got snapped!

as for my music report of TWBA/Steve Aoki, I’ll post it once I get the pics from Bram
